What if the Earth stopped rotating on its axis?

Many times, we underestimate the significance of the entities that nature freely provides us. We often fail to recognize the importance of essentials such as air, water, and light in our lives. All the natural phenomenon plays a crucial role in our survival. Let’s think about the effects if the earth stops rotating on its axis? Imagine the advantages which we are getting due to rotation of Earth on its axis.

If the Earth stop rotating, one side of the Earth facing the Sun would become very hot and another side facing away from the Sun would become very cold. This extreme temperature difference would lead to extreme weather events, such as hurricanes, tornado, powerful winds and earthquakes.

Due to the rotation of the Earth a centrifugal force generates, which opposes the pull of gravity at equator. Hence at equator we feel weaker gravity but if the rotation will stop there will be increase in effective gravity at equator. While the poles would experience a decrease in the effective gravity. As a result, the oceans would start to bulge out at the equator, as the centrifugal force that keeps them from flying off into space would be removed.

The Earth's magnetic field would weaken, as the rotation of the Earth is what generates the field. Hence, we would be exposed to more radiation, which could increase our risk of cancer and other health problems. If the Earth's magnetic field were to weaken, we would be more vulnerable to solar storms.

Most life on Earth is adapted to the Earth's current rotation. If the Earth stopped rotating, many plants and animals would not be able to survive. The effects of the Earth stopping rotating would be catastrophic, and life on Earth would be severely disrupted
